Dr. Lia Ettinger

Dr. Lia Ettinger, a faculty member of the Mandel School for Educational Leadership, is the academic supervisor at the Heschel Center for Sustainability. Previously, she was a senior fellow at the Shaharit Institute for New Politics and taught sustainability at Tel Aviv University. Lia holds a doctorate in biology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her dissertation and post-doctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley, and at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem focused on evolution and the philosophy of biology. Lia began to explore sustainability on her own about 30 years ago, and has been working on making that knowledge accessible and examining the connections between science, society, economics, and culture ever since. She is a graduate of Cohort 3 of the Mandel School for Educational Leadership.
